.NET developer specializing in AI and modernizing complex legacy systems.
I was the technical lead on an award-winning ERP microservices platform and led a business-critical cloud migration. You should hire me because my humanities background and technical experience let me reliably operate AI systems at a high level. I send the first email that gets big projects rolling.
I moved from England in June of 2026 and am authorized to work in the USA.
DB Cargo UK - Technical Advancement Specialist (2023 - June 2026)
AI
Researched, trialed, procured and deployed multiple agentic AI coding solutions for a team of five developers. I was responsible for total team spend on tokens.
Used AI to automate migration of 100k+ lines of legacy VB.NET code to modern, idiomatic C#. I demonstrated bug-for-bug compatibility via fuzz testing, property testing and database-level snapshot testing. This saved around $100k/year in hosting costs.
Delivered presentations to the CTO and department heads on the economics and benefits of AI adoption. Produced risk analysis documents for our security teams on data sovereignty and cross-department AI deployment.
Modernization
Spearheaded the rewrite of a critical WinForms application to a Blazor solution that was easier to maintain, ~80% cheaper to host, and enabled zero-downtime deployments.
Migrated a 90+ project solution from .NET Framework to .NET 8 without regressions or impact to business users.
Migrated an on-prem Team Foundation Server installation to Azure DevOps with total data continuity and no downtime. This enabled automated database-aware integration tests and AI code review for our development lifecycle. Production outages fell by half in the following year.
Cloud
Architected a full Azure topology for an on-prem → cloud migration, in collaboration with external consultants, plus our security, legal and technical teams. I authored extensive Bicep templates for documented, repeatable, and reversible deployments.
We moved thirty distinct applications from Windows Server to Azure Container Apps, with centralized observability, cost tracking and regulatory compliance.
I automated SBOM generation, templated cross-repo CI/CD pipelines, and added OpenTelemetry instrumentation through Azure Monitor. The latter caught multiple pathological scaling issues before code reached production.
We used Azure Key Vault, Azure Communication Services, Service Bus, Event Grid, Blob Storage, Entra ID, Intune, Front Door, and Azure Functions.
Leadership
Led a team of five through a successful company-wide, hard-deadline transition to the cloud. This let us end unattractive business relationships costing us on the scale of $1mil/year.
I was the point of contact for non-technical business stakeholders and directed the team through multi-month projects. I established definitions-of-done for tickets and our specific Agile techniques to our sprint ceremonies, such as Fibonacci ticket sizing.
Developed a comprehensive developer documentation wiki from scratch, without AI, in direct collaboration with business domain experts.
Procured training material for the team, primarily Dometrain, as it fit our .NET expertise. I also gave hands-on lessons on using AI agents effectively.
I sat on interview panels for candidate hires to our team. Department heads sought my input on hire/fire decisions.
Led technical communication with external agencies, including the UK’s national rail provider.
Impact
Provided technical analysis to department heads that justified in-house development over external suppliers, saving ~$120k/year.
Identified innovative projects which qualified us for the UK government’s R&D tax relief scheme (RDEC).
DB Cargo UK - Junior Developer (2021 - 2023)
Maintained a large, business-critical microservices platform using C#, ASP.NET (Framework & Core), WinForms and SQL Server. I fixed bugs, did DevOps, and developed features.
Maintained and improved essential integrations for TOPS, a legacy IBM mainframe system that underpins the UK rail system.
Worked with our DBA to identify multiple opportunities for schema and index optimizations on our SQL Server databases. I reduced multiple user flows from 3+ minutes of average wall-clock time to under five seconds.
When developers were losing around an hour per day of productive labor to poor hardware and tooling, I presented an evidence-based case to the department head. With my input, this led to a rollout of new laptops, IDEs and authentication schemes better-suited to our needs. This made it significantly easier to onboard new hires.
Freelance copywriter (2019 - 2021)
Content creation, copywriting and editing for domestic and international clients.
Presented complex technical and scientific subjects in digestible forms for niche and broad audiences.
